# Handball Standings Widget

## Add a handball competition table to a post.

The **Standings** widget displays the current table for a handball competition and season, grouped by stage, directly inside your article.

The fastest way to add a Handball widget: select the **Handball** icon in the quick-add row below the article body — no need to open the full block picker and search a category list.

### Preconditions

- Your project must have the Handball feature enabled. Widget categories are switched on per project, so if **Handball widgets** does not appear in the block picker, ask your administrator to enable it.
- You need permission to create or edit articles.
- The competition you want must have at least one season recorded.

### Adding the Handball Standings Widget to a post

To set up the widget:

1. Open an article for editing, or create a new one.
2. Below the blocks in the article body is a row of quick-add buttons: the content blocks first, then one icon for each sport enabled on your project, then **+**. Hover an icon to see its name — the **Handball** icon is hovered here.

3. Select the **Handball** icon, then choose **Standings** from the widget list that opens.

4. Set the widget options. **Competition**, **Season**, **Stage**, **Highlight teams**, **Default group type** and others control what it shows.

5. Check the options are the ones you want. Some fields depend on others, so a list can be empty until you set the field above it. **Default group type** works this way: it stays disabled until you select a stage, because its choices come from that stage. Choose the group type the table should open on, or leave it empty to use the widget default (Overall).

6. When done, select **Save block**.

7. Hover the saved block. Of the controls that appear (**Copy embed code**, **Preview**, **Edit** and **Remove**), select **Preview** to see the real widget.

### Handball Standings Widget options

- **Competition** *(required)* — The competition whose data you want to show. The panel opens with one already selected; replace it with the one you want.
- **Season** — The season within the chosen competition. Options depend on which competition you selected above.
- **Stage** — Limits the widget to a single stage of the competition, such as a group phase or a knockout round.
- **Highlight teams** *(optional)* — Emphasizes one or more teams in the results so readers can find them quickly. The field starts empty.
- **Default group type** — The group type the table opens on, for example Group. Which group types appear depends on the selected stage, and each choice is shown as a name followed by its code, such as **Group (GROUP)**. The field is disabled until you select a stage. Leave it empty to use the widget default (Overall). It does not depend on **Display widget header**.
- **Limit** — The maximum number of rows to display.
- **Start from position** — The table position to start from (1 = first place). Combine it with Limit to show a slice of the table; for example, Limit 6 and Start from position 5 shows positions 5 to 10.
- **Display widget header** — Shows the widget’s own heading above its content.
- **Refresh time** — Controls how often the published widget refetches its data. Leave empty to use your project’s global refresh setting.

### What the Handball Standings Widget shows

Handball tables use the same column set as most team sports, since a handball match can end in a draw:

- **MP** — matches played: how many matches the team has completed
- **W** — won: matches the team won
- **D** — drawn: matches that ended level
- **L** — lost: matches the team lost
- **GD** — goal difference: goals scored and conceded (for example 120:92), with the difference in brackets
- **PTS** — points: competition points earned

### Preview of the Handball Standings Widget

When the season has more than one stage, a stage selector appears above the tables. The widget shows one table per group, with a row for each team.

### Good to know

Only the preview shows the real widget. The collapsed block and the options panel show a CMS summary card instead — always check preview before publishing.

- The preview area is narrower than a published page, so the widget uses its compact layout there and may hide columns that the published version shows.
- The widget always renders whichever version of the sports widgets library your project is on. There is no version to set.
- If something is missing when you select **Save block**, a red message appears in the form (for example **No competition selected**) and the block is not saved. A new block opens without error messages; they appear only after you select **Save block**.
- If you change the stage after choosing a **Default group type**, your choice is kept and checked against the new stage. When the new stage does not offer it, a message says so: choose another group type or clear the field before you save.
- A block saved earlier keeps the group type it already had, and that type shows in the field when you edit the block.
